Photo of the Month - February 2017 - Entries
And here we go, new race is on!
Theme:
"BEHIND THE SCENES"
... set by the last month's winners Geo Ghost and Transportman.
"Photos aimed at what it going on away from the usual view of passengers and the public. The things that go on to keep things running smoothly day and night. Shunting in railway yards, Buses being inspected in a maintenance depot, an empty airport terminal being cleaned overnight, Heavy Engineering work, etc. The things we don't usually see"
As always, rules can be found HERE.
How to enter:
Easy - simply upload your image to this topic to enter or link it from a trusted site such as flickr, photobucket, DeviantArt, your personal website etc.
Uploading is preferred as it keeps things together. If you're linking from a URL, having a small 'preview' image and a link to a high-res image would be helpful.
If uploading direct to the wiki:
Let's keep entries in a certain named format for organisation reasons as well as keeping record of them in the entries topic and here. If you prefer to upload to the wiki, please keep it in the same naming format as other entries and inform me they are already on the wiki. Name format is - month|year|POTM_user name.
For example: 0217POTM_Dave.jpg / 0217POTM_orudge.jpg / 0217POTM_GeoGhost.jpg / 0217POTM_Ameecher.jpg
You get the idea
At the end of the month, this topic will close and a voting topic will be started with all the entries in for people to choose their top one.
All entries will be uploaded to the tt-forums wiki and stored there for voting and also for archive.
Entries close on the last day of the month, voting will be available for 7 days (approximately).
The winner will need to contact me about what they want the next theme to be and then that will be posted in the entry topic for the next month*. Then we repeat from there. Simple.
(* If the winner doesn't choose a theme within 7 days, the next month's theme will be an "Open" theme).
If you wish to change your entry, you may so long as the entries are still open. Simply upload a new one to the topic and remove your old one.
Otherwise, it may get confusing as to which one you are entering. If there are two entries submitted and you have not informed me which one you wish to be used, I will use the first one posted.
Cheers people!

Re: Photo of the Month - February 2017 - Entries
Can we use photos we took in the past? I took this one in 1988 at Euabalong West .. I just not remember if it the cabin of Steam Locomotive 3801 or 3642 as they both visited my station that year.
Haven't got access to a scanner to scan it clearer .. had to use camera on the Tablet. If I get access to a scanner before photos comp closes will update it.

You can re-use your previous photos unless these have won a contest. So, that's a yes.
Re: Photo of the Month - February 2017 - Entries
My Entry for this month. Behind the Scene's at Berlin's Brandenburg Airport in February 2015, with Gate B03 yet to see the first passenger to use it, (still the case to this day) and the plastic protective coverings still on the Computer.
(I may be able to add a clearer version of the picture at a later date, I dragged that off of my Facebook until I can get the old phone (with which this image was originally taken) working)

Changing sleepers and putting new ballast on a mainline...
P.S. te_lanus - I'm not sure what others think but a photo involving a warship isn't really transport-related... I don't know...

I don't see an issue personally

How old is that machine! Looks like it should still be powered by coalVoyager One wrote:Changing sleepers and putting new ballast on a mainline...
I can kinda see what V1 is saying here, about the fact that it is a warship, which is more a tool for war than transport, however, it could be used for transport in some situations (humanitarian aid, island evacuations, etc.), and I guess you could say that it is transporting it's crew and armoury, so I don't think I have an issue with it.Geo Ghost wrote:Warship is still a shipVoyager One wrote:P.S. te_lanus - I'm not sure what others think but a photo involving a warship isn't really transport-related... To be honest, I have no idea. I took it several years ago in England, so maybe someone from England can tell what that black beast exactly is.Voyager One wrote:Wow! What's that black beast?

Looks like a Merchant Navy class locomotive, probably in the open workshop at the National Railway Musuem in York, it's also Dark Green, not blackTransportman wrote:To be honest, I have no idea. Edit: It's a Battle of Britain class, same designer, hence my confusion.
