Don't buy unless your mad!!!
I'm new to the site so first of all hi!
I found this site trying to find a way to run Transport tycoon and never thought it was this big till i typed it into google!!!
I've played this game for years and when transport giant came out i thought i'd give it a go!!!
What a mistake, 1 it's to easy no matter what lvl you set it on!
Trains are boring as hell and you have to connect them all to each other!!
When you buy other companies out new companies don't re-start! so gets lonly!
Maps are way to small!
Some of it has some intersting idea's such as passagers will only go where they want which i liked (about yhe only thing!!!)
The game has a few intersting forward steps with the Building and trading empire style of game but compared to Transport Tycoon it has A LOT more backwark steps than forward!

I played it too and to say I WAS impressed at first but then those already mentioned things started to annoy me so I would really reconsider buying it if I were you.
I think Open TT is the best of all and its free.
If you have any sorts of skill please contribute becouse progress there seems very slow to me.

I was one of those fools who bought this game.
I don’t mind supporting the industry when they deliver a good product, but JoWood has pulled a big scam with this one.
They only added signals in a patch after the game was released, that had to do this because they had specified on the box that it incorporated a sophisticated signal system in the game.
Only trouble is, signals is a dead duck, because it was not working, they decided to do a reset every month to fix all the glitches. It is a big rip off, deliberate case of fraud.

ok, I just found this game and after looking at some screenshots i must say the graphics are amazing, but are you saying that this is where the good stuff stops or what?
I like TTD very much but it's seriously outdated and i love 3DTT or Trains & trucks tycoon. But we all know how unfinished it is, and Locomotion is out-dated even before it hit the shelves in my humble opinion.
However they all suffer from one great drawback, The maps are too small.
TTD should have at least twice the size of the map and 3DTT and locomotion even more like 4 times the size!
and not more cities or industries but farther apart.
So how is Transport Giant on theese questions?
What game am i looking for?

The Trains turn in very ugly fashion, JoWood could've easily allowed the trains to turn smoothly, instead they jerk around when they have to turn like they would have aimbot on counter strike. And there is no tutorial that comes with the game, a newbie will rip his hair off his head figuring out how to build a piece of rail.

I remember when this game came out, ages ago.
I installed it, and gave it a good 2 hours. I then quit the game, uninstalled, ejected CD and snapped it in half. That's what I thought of it.
At the moment, there is only a couple of games worth playing, it just depends whether you want single-player or multiplayer.
Single-player: Locomotion
Although the graphics are ten times better than any other game at present it certainly doesn't look ten years ahead which is the head-start this game has had since the release of Transport Tycoon Deluxe. The maps are still small, and the vehicles don't look to have even been touched. I believe there is not even a Maglev in Loco. That being said it is still the best single-player game... I just wish they had listened to us (the customers) in what we wanted. I'm not sure if a "TTD 3" or "Loco 2" will be released, but if it does, I'd check to see about whether it has been significantly updated before purchasing it.
Multiplayer: OpenTTD
Locomotion failed miserably. Although MP is present in Loco, it plays like you yourself are in 1930's America, and are using tin cans and a piece of string to connect, whatever your connection and although I haven't tried it on a LAN, I shudder to think if anything is better in that dept.
OpenTTD however, have got it just right. Simply load up the game, select MP, and find a server. All the relevant details come up regarding the map type, companies playing, year etc... that's it's a piece of cake. A 6-y-o could do it no problem. Can play up to 10 people at once.
Loco's method of entering is via IP address only, so security concious folks may not wish to divulge this info. Max players is 2 and you have no info at beginning of game to know what the map is etc... unless your opponent tells you, or you're of course hosting the game itself.
Bang for buck (or pound ) I'd get OpenTTD.
Sorry this was long people.
